Remember your early and mid-20’s? They were all about being independent. Dinner hours came and went with maybe a handful of popcorn. Nobody was hurt by it but me—hey, I was INDEPENDENT. Now I have a husband and two small daughters who need real fuel at the end of the day. I absolutely love to cook, but I’m no martyr—I know how to stop and smell the rose petals in the salad. I don’t want to be limited to fast, easy meals every night of the week. But with our work, volunteering at school, parenting, and keeping house, our love of great food had outpaced our ability to produce it ourselves. Independence wasn’t looking so good any more. When baby 2 arrived, it was time to give INTERdependence a whirl. I joined a neighborhood cooking co-op four years ago, and we still wow each other weekly. With this lovely culinary support system, I’ve become the balanced person I want to be.

As career woman in my mid-20’s, popcorn for dinner just doesn’t cut it. But the only times I get a break from cooking during the week is to bum a meal at my parent’s house or throw in a Digorno. The concept of a dinner co-op is becoming more and more appealing…
